North Shore Navigators News Release
The Navigators season is quickly approaching and plans are starting to be finalized for the team's home opener on Saturday, June 7th against the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by Frank Carey, the head baseball coach of North Reading High School.
Carey is coaching in his 49th season with the North Reading Hornets this year. His 49th season will also be his last. Through his time with the Hornets, he has won more games than any other coach in Massachusetts baseball history. And he recently won his 1,000 game as the varsity head coach. The list of accomplishments in Carey's career is very long. He is also a member of the Massachusetts Baseball Coaches and U.S. Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame.
Carey also has local ties to Lynn. He grew up in the city and played many baseball games here. He was even a teammate of Tony Conigliaro at St. Mary's.
The Navigators are very excited to have Frank Carey throw out the first pitch of the home opener as the team kicks off the 2014 FCBL season. Tickets can be purchased by calling 781-595-9400.
