CardSharks Run Away with a Victory

Atlantic City, NJ, April 12, 2004 â The CardSharks recorded the first victory in the history of the franchise on Saturday night in Atlantic City. The team was greeted by 4,123 fans in Boardwalk Hall to see 77-37 victory over the visiting Greenville Riverhawks. Ron Lewis was the catalyst for the offensive explosion, rushing for four touchdowns and catching another.
"The fans of Atlantic City welcomed us and we were glad to put on a good show for the crowd," stated General Manager and Head Coach Mike Siani. "Our players can't wait to come home again on May 8th and play in front of this wonderful crowd."
Lewis finished the night with 31 yards rushing on just 7 carries. Four of the seven rushing attempts resulted in "Ron Lew" putting the ball in the endzone. Lewis also added 26 yards receiving and an additional TD, giving him 5 on the night. Tony Racioppi threw the ball for over 150 yards and three touchdowns. Defensive Back Wade Fauntleroy and Linebacker Earl Biddy held down the defensive unit, as the pair recorded 13 tackles.
Greenville went into the locker room at half-time hanging with the CardSharks, 33-31. The second half was another story, however, as Atlantic City outscored the Riverhawks 44-6. Quarterback Chris Thompson starred for the Riverhawks, with over 200 yards passing and 4 touchdowns. His main target was Rich Grear who had 8 receptions for 82 yards and 3 touchdowns on the evening.
"Greenville is a tough team now, and the first half sent a message to the league. They are young, but as the season goes on they will pose problems for their opponents," added Coach Siani.
