Brevard County Manatees News Release

On Monday, July 12th, the Brevard County Manatees will begin Car Survivor, Space Coast Stadium I during pre-game activities with the Sarasota Red Sox. The Manatees have acquired a Geo Metro hatchback for the promotion and media coverage with the local ESPN Radio affiliate.

Five fans, three selected in-stadium, the remaining two from ESPN Radio listeners, will meet at home plate where amongst tiki torches and Survivor music the castaways will be introduced to the crowd.

After throwing First Pitches the five will be led to the small car where they will sit inside until only one contestant is left. The five contestants are allowed to exit the car every six hours for a short 15 minute break.

Any food or beverage brought into the car must remain in the car until the contest ends. Contestants will maintain contact with the outside world through cell phone calls to the radio station, providing updates from the car, requesting food and drinks, and other necessities.

CBS Survivor Africa contestant Dr Carl Bilancione has been invited to emcee the opening ceremonies for Car Survivor, Space Coast Stadium I.

The car will be located in the stadium's picnic area where game day fans can observe and interact with the contestants. Sponsorship was obtained for the car, the media coverage, and the tent that will provide shade in the picnic area during day light hours and when the daily afternoon storms arrive.

We expect the contest to last two-to-three weeks before a winner is determined.

Applications can be obtained at Space Coast Stadium or via email at info@spacecoaststadium.com.
