Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Shreveport-Bossier Captains announced today that they have released bench coach Vince Moore from his contract in order to pursue managerial opportunities. Moore had been the manager of Edinburg first of the Central League (in 2005) and eventually the United League (2006-08), but with that league filing for bankruptcy in December, old managerial rival Ricky VanAsselberg stepped in to give Moore a job with the Captains.

Recently though, Moore has asked for and has been given his release from his contract by the Captains in order to pursue a job as a field manager. The Captains have already begun a search for his replacement.

"I hate to see Vince leave us, but we need to do what is right for his career as a manager," Captains VP/GM Craig Brasfield said. "In order for him to move up the ranks, he needs to be a field manager and hopefully we are helping him achieve his goal."

The Shreveport-Bossier Captains open the 2009 season in Pensacola on May 14, and will be on the road for the first series of their 2009 campaign. The Shreveport-Bossier Captains' first game at Fair Grounds Field will be on May 19 against Grand Prairie. For information on tickets, promotions, advertising, and other opportunities with the Captains, check out the team's Web site at www.sbcaptains.com, or call the Fair Grounds Field office at (318) 636-5555.
