
Capitals offer ticket special for SAP Open

SAN JOSE, CA - Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment (SVS&E) announced today that two-time winner Andy Roddick and defending champion Andy Murray will join America's #1 player James Blake and Russian superstar Marat Safin at the 2007 SAP Open, Northern California's premier men's professional tennis tournament. The SAP Open will be played February 12 - 18, 2007 at HP Pavilion at San Jose. Additional information about the SAP Open can be found on the official tournament web site at www.sapopentennis.com.
In addition, the SAP Open, Northern California's premier men's professional tennis tournament, has reached agreement with title sponsor SAP to extend its partnership for two additional years making SAP the tournament's title sponsor through 2009. In keeping with tournament policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Information about ticket packages and group tickets for the 2007 SAP Open is available by calling (408) ACE-2121. Ticket packages are available in November 2006 and individual tickets to the 2007 SAP Open will go on sale in January 2007. Celebrating his 24th birthday last week at the US Open, two-time SAP Open champion Andy Roddick has experienced much success during his career in San Jose - winning titles in 2004 & 2005. In 2007, Roddick will attempt to win his third SAP Open title in four years. Currently No. 10 in the Indesit ATP Singles Rankings, Roddick has played great tennis this summer, capturing the singles title at the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters tournament in Cincinnati, OH. Roddick was also singles finalist at the RCA Championships in Indianapolis , IN this past July, and partnered American Bobby Reynolds to the RCA doubles title. The 2006 SAP Open will be Roddick's sixth appearance in San Jose in the last seven years.
At just 19-years old, Scotland's Andy Murray enters the 2007 SAP Open as the tournament's defending champion. Last February, surprising players and fans alike, Murray defeated Roddick in the semifinals and Australian Lleyton Hewitt in the final to capture the 2006 SAP Open title, his first career ATP circuit title. In addition to his championship performance at the SAP Open, this summer Murray reached the final of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington D.C. and also made semifinal appearances at the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport, RI and the ATP Masters Series Canada in Toronto, Canada. At the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters tournament in Cincinnati, OH, he served notice to the tennis world when he shocked world's #1 Roger Federer in straight sets. One of the fastest rising players on the ATP circuit, Murray is currently ranked a career-best #16 in the Indesit ATP Singles Rankings. In his brief career, Murray has already earned an impressive $486,175 in prize money.
Currently the top American player on the worldwide ATP Circuit, James Blake enters the 2007 SAP open in search of his first ever singles title in San Jose. Blake enters the 2007 SAP Open playing the best tennis in his professional career. An All-American at Harvard University before turning professional, Blake has already captured three titles in 2006 including victories at the Medibank International in Sydney, Australia, The Tennis Channel Open in Las Vegas, NV and the RCA Championships in Indianapolis, IN where he defeated Roddick 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5). Blake is currently ranked No. 7 in the Indesit ATP Singles Rankings and reached a career best ranking of No. 5 earlier this year. The 2007 SAP Open will be Blake's sixth consecutive appearance at the SAP Open.
Entering the SAP Open for the first time in his career is Russian superstar Marat Safin. Safin is a former No. 1 player in the world who owns a career record of 338-192 - including 15 career singles titles. Highlighting his list of career victories are the 2000 US Open title (defeated Sampras) and the 2005 Australian Open title (defeated Hewitt). Safin, who has recently been slowed by a knee injury, will look to boost his nearly $12.5 million career winnings when he comes to San Jose in February.
