
Capitales' Laforest Wins Star Of Stars Award

DURHAM, NC - The official statistician of the Can-Am League, PA-Sportsticker, has selected Quebec Capitales 1B/C Pierre-Luc LaForest as the 2009 league's "Star of Stars". This award is given annually by PA-Sportsticker to the player that has the best overall statistical performance in their particular league.
LaForest, the 2009 Can-Am League Player of the Year, led the league in home runs (24), RBIs (82), slugging percentage (.563) and extra base hits (47). He also finished third in on-base percentage (.403) and runs scored (69). The Montebello, QC resident won the Teamline Direct Batter of the Week award three times this season as well as the B45's July Batter of the Month.
The 31-year-old veteran was selected by the Montreal Expos in the 16th round of the 1995 draft. LaForest played nine seasons in the Tampa Bay Rays organization, reaching the majors in 2003 and 2005. He also played in the big leagues with the San Diego Padres and Philadelphia Phillies.
