The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced today they have signed defenceman Nolan Baumgartner to an NHL contract.

In that time, the Calgary, AB native collected six assists and 10 penalty minutes while the Moose went on a 14-2-0-2 run. Prior to joining the Moose, Baumgartner appeared in 56 games last year with the AHL's Iowa Stars. In that time, he scored five goals and 13 assists for 18 points and 47 penalty minutes. He then appeared in three Calder Cup playoff games in the North Division Semi-Final versus the Syracuse Crunch where he collected an assist.
Baumgartner's return to the Moose last year was his second stint with the team as he was team captain during the 2004-05 season and scored the first-ever goal at the MTS Centre back on Nov. 17/04. In 210 career games as a Moose, Baumgartner has scored 23 goals and 88 assists for 113 points and 244 penalty minutes. He was named the team's top defenceman in 2003 and 2005. Baumgartner has also played in 131 career NHL games with Dallas, the Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Washington. In that time, he's scored six goals and 39 assists for 45 points and 67 penalty minutes.
