
Cannons Draft 12, Make Trade with Charlotte

BOSTON, MA (December 17th, 2014) - The Boston Cannons selected 12 players in the 2015 Supplemental Draft on Wednesday. In order, the Cannons selected; Josh Amidon, David Emala, Ricky Pages, Andrew Sellers, Brett Garber, Matt White, Jack Murphy, Matt Messina, Eric Lusby, Ryan Hollenbaugh, Matt Dolente, and Eric Hagarty.
Additionally, the Cannons acquired Ryan Young in a trade with Charlotte in exchange for a second round pick. Young, an attackman out of the University of Maryland, was a 2011 USILA Third Team All-American. He earned his first MLL All-Star nod in 2013 after scoring 30 goals and 40 points in the regular-season.
In the supplemental draft, the Cannons first pick, fourth overall, went to midfielder Josh Amidon who was a four year starter at Syracuse playing in 68 games, recording 49 goals and 35 assists for 84 points. The middie was a USILA Honorable mention All-American his junior and senior seasons.
"We are very pleased we were able to scoop Josh early on in the draft, and we think he will bring great value to the team next season," stated Cannons Head Coach John Tucker . "He adds size, speed, and knowledge of the game."
The Cannons second pick, 12th overall, went to David Emala, a midfielder out of UNC.
"We think Davey is a great guy who sees the field well and really understands the game," Coach Tucker stated. "He also has a great shot."
With the Cannons third pick, 28th overall, they welcomed back Ricky Pages, a defenseman out of Ohio State.
"The Cannons are happy to welcome Ricky back to the family," Tucker continued. "He is a great teammate and will have no problem transitioning back to his role with this team."
The Cannons fourth pick, 36th overall, went to Andrew Sellers, a defenseman out of Salisbury University.
"Andrew will add a lot of depth to our defensive core," Coach Tucker said. "He is a smart player who can bring versatility to our team."
