Sioux Falls, SD - The Canaries return to Sioux Falls tomorrow, May 31, after a five-day road trip with Sioux City and Lincoln. The Canaries will host Sioux City May 31 and June 1 and Lincoln June 2-4 at the Birdcage.
Wednesday night, May 31, is Truth or D.A.R.E. Night out at the Birdcage. The Canaries and Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield wish to reward '05-'06 D.A.R.E program graduates. Any D.A.R.E graduate coming through the gate of the Birdcage will be awarded two free tickets to the game and additional tickets at a discounted price of $4 per ticket.
Anyone who brings their own instrument to the Birdcage on Thursday, June 1 will get in to the game for just $2! During an inning break, those who bring their instruments can become a part of the first Canaries marching band parade.
Schoeneman's Lumber presents the first Mt. Rushmore bobblehead giveaway, Abe Lincoln, on Friday, June 2. 1,000 random fans will leave the Birdcage with their very own Abe Lincoln bobble. Soap box debates will rage between innings.
On Saturday night, June 3, Austad's Golf and the Canaries will tie together the two greatest summer sports and top night off with a fireworks show. Promotions will include driving contests over the scoreboard between innings.
Sunday, June 4, the Canaries will honor South Dakota's history and Albert Brookings. Between-inning promotions will include historical reenactments.
Bird Seeds: The Canaries have signed RHP Peter Bauer. Bauer played in the weekend series against the Lincoln Saltdogs, pitching six innings and only giving up two runs on seven hits. ...The Canaries have placed outfielder Jonny Kaplan and RHP Evan Greusel on waivers.
