
Canadians Hold on Despite Six-Run Ninth for Hops

Hillsboro, OR - Vancouver totaled 10 hits and 10 runs, with seven different players recording a hit on Thursday. Four of Hillsboro's eight hits in the game were doubles (Vukovich, Roberts (2) and Bliss). Davis Schneider had 4 RBI and MacKenzie Mueller had three hits and recorded the save, in the Canadians' 10-7 win.
For the second day in a row, the Canadians led off the game with an extra-base hit. Yesterday, a home run by Davis Schneider and today, a triple by Steward Berroa. Schneider picked up his first of four RBIs in the game, on an RBI groundout, making it 1-0 Vancouver.
The Canadians would blow the game open in the second inning, scoring seven runs on five hits and two walks, with Davis Schneider and Damiano Palmegiani picking up the big hits. Schneider hit a three-run homer on a 2-2 pitch over the left field bullpen, his second home run in as many days. Palmegiani had a two-RBI double later in the inning, as the Canadians would take an 8-0 lead to the bottom of the second.
Jamison Hill had his shortest outing of the season, getting chased after just 1.2 innings. Hill allowed four hits, seven earned runs and three walks.
Caleb Roberts hit his 10th double of the season in the third inning against Zulueta and A.J. Vukovich brought him home with an RBI single for the Hops' first run.
Vancouver turned three double plays in the first five innings of the game, as they had turned just 42 of them in the first 62 games.
Canadians' starter, Yosver Zulueta, threw five innings while allowing just three hits, one earned run and five strikeouts.
MacKenzie Mueller singled home a run in the fifth and Addison Barger singled home a run in the sixth, as Vancouver continued to pour it on. 10-1 was the score after six. Vancouver was again solid with runners in scoring position, going 5-for-11.
The Hops wouldn't go down without a fight, scoring six runs on three walks and three hits in the ninth. Channy Ortiz and Lyle Lin both had RBI singles in the frame, with Caleb Roberts driving in a run on a double. MacKenzie Mueller, who played the entire game in left field, came on to get the final out of the game with the tying run at the plate. He struck out Bliss on four pitches to get the first save of his career.
Caleb Roberts had two doubles, two runs scored and 2 RBI in the game.
