Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island - The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure and the PEI Rocket are again partnering with East Side Mario's in Charlottetown to present the second annual "Think Pink Rocket Pasta Dinner" on Wednesday, October 12.
"We are extremely pleased to host this event for a second year with the PEI Rocket," said Chris Wright with Murphy Group Restaurants. "Cancer seems to have touched all of us in some way shape or form. This evening is a great way to get family and friends together to celebrate life, enjoy a meal and raise money to beat breast cancer."
Tickets to the Spaghetti Dinner will be sold at the PEI Rocket home games on October 7 and 8 for $15. This includes spaghetti with garlic bread, Caesar or garden salad, and chocolate mousse for dessert. Special wait staff will be brought in to serve guests of the spaghetti dinner as the PEI Rocket will be dishing out the pasta at both the 5pm and 6:30 sittings.
"As an organization, we understand the importance of competing hard every night to win the battles needed to win hockey games. Although this is very important to us and near and dear to our hearts, we realize it does not compare to what those battling the ugly disease of breast cancer must go through," said Trent Birt, Vice President of Operations with the PEI Rocket. "Everyone directly and indirectly involved with this devastating disease must find energy and courage from within while relying on various resources from others to help them win the most important battle of all; that's living life."
The PEI Rocket are also supporting breast cancer awareness with their Pink Jersey game on October 14. "We can put systems in place to help us win games on the ice but unfortunately the science of beating cancer isn't where it has to be today. Because of this, we are most proud to be partnering with the Atlantic Chapter of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to raise awareness and money to assist in finding a cure for this disease that effects far too many of us," said Birt.
There are a limited number of tickets being sold. Tickets for both the 5pm and 6:30pm sitting can be purchased at the PEI Rocket home games on October 7 and 8.
