Quebec 6, Pittsfield 2
The Quebec Capitales collected their fifth straight victory, a 6-2 triumph over Pittsfield, behind a strong outing from starter Michel Simard and a four-hit game from 2B Josh Colafemina. Simard struckout six batters in seven innings while surrendering just two earned runs on five hits. He earned the win to improve to 7-5. Colafemina doubled and tripled as part of a 4-for-5 night in which he drove in to runs. Quebec SS Ivan Naccarata also had two RBI and scored two runs as part of a 2-for-5 effort. Pittsfield starter Jon Venters struckout eight men in six innings but allowed nine hits and three walks. He dropped to 1-4 with the loss.
Brockton 5, New Jersey 2
Brockton got another fine pitching performance from Freddy Flores, scored all their runs in the middle innings, and cruised to a 5-2 win over New Jersey. Flores worked eight shutout innings and struckout five batters to move his record to 8-2 with the win. The Rox got balanced production from up and down the lineup as four hitters had multi-hit games. C Chris Grossman led the way with a 3-for-4 performance, and 1B Melvin Falu homered for the 19th time this season. DH Jacob Butler drove in both runs for New Jersey.
