Brockton 6, New Jersey 5
Rox C Chris Grossman turned in a big performance at the plate as he homered, doubled, and scored the game winning run in a 6-5 Brockton win over New Jersey. With Grossman at second at none out in the ninth Brockton used a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly to walkoff with the win. Brad Hertzler pitched a 1-2-3 the top of the ninth for Brockton and got the win to improve to 2-1. Rox starter Mike Wlodarczyk struckout nine batters in eight innings pitched and Jackals starter Justin Jones fanned six in seven innings of work. 1B Jabe Bergeron led the Jackals offense as he went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Sussex 7, Worcester 6 (10 Innings)
In a see-saw affair that featured three ties and three lead changes, Sussex plated a run in the bottom of the tenth inning to earn a 7-6 win over Worcester. Skyhawks reliever Donald Jordat earned the victory with two strong innings of work in which he struckout four and did not allow a hit. Tornadoes starter John Kelly also impressed as he struckout seven in six innings of work. He allowed four earned runs on six hits as he dropped to 8-4. 2B Joe Persichina finished 3-for-5 in the contest with two RBI and DH Caleb Stewart belted two homers in the contest to lead the Skyhawks attack. Worcester LF Billy Cather hit a three-run dinger for the Tornadoes in defeat.
Quebec 19, Pittsfield 3
The Quebec Capitales pounced on Pittsfield pitching early in the game and never let up as they routed the Colonials by a score of 19-3. C Pete LaForest and 3B Michael Thompson were a lethal combination at the plate, as they each homered, doubled, and drove in four runs. LaForest scored four runs; Thompson three. Pittsfield managed to collect 13 hits in the contest but also committed three errors. Quebec starter Matthew Rusch allowed two earned runs on eight hits in six innings of work as he improved his record to 11-1.
