Brockton 7, Quebec 6

The Rox stole another close contest from Quebec when 1B Melvin Falu hit his third homer of the game in the top of the ninth to push Brockton to a 7-6 win. Falu's leadoff shot in the ninth completed a Brockton comeback that saw the offense draw the deficit to within one in the seventh and tie the game in the eighth on an RBI single by LF Mike Conroy. In addition to Falu's game winner, he also notched a two-run blast in the third, and a solo shot in the fifth. And after Brockton starter Mike Smith struggled early, reliever Colin Lynch pitched two scoreless innings and picked up the win, and Brad Hertzler earned his second save. In the loss, Quebec got three-hit performances from SS Ivan Naccarata and 3B Michael Thompson.

Pittsfield 7, Worcester 1

Pittsfield got six innings of shutout baseball from starter Miguel A. Flores and timely hitting to easily beat Worcester 7-1. Flores improved to 4-3 by scattering five hits and striking out five before handing it over to three relievers, who didn't allow an earned run the rest of the way. On offense, all of the Colonials' runs came in the fourth and fifth innings. Once again, 3B Jason Taylor was in the middle of the action, hitting his fifth home run and driving in a pair. RF Wes Fink also knocked in two on his first triple of the season, as the Colonials improved to 6-1 in the second half.
