Knoff allowed just one hit in five innings, and Giusti finished the final four to earn his first save. Offensively, the Tornadoes scored five times in the fifth, capped by a three-run homer by 3B Mark Minicozzi. Brockton starter Mike Smith didn't allow an earned run in seven innings, and DH Clyde Williams' early three-run home run propelled the Rox to a 5-2 beating of New Jersey. Smith earned his sixth win by allowing just four hits, before handing the game over to relievers Josh Papelbon and Hunter Davis, who earned his sixth save of the season. In addition to Williams' second inning shot, the Rox got a solid offensive performance from 2B Scott Wearne, who went 3-for-5 with a run scored.
