Leading 2-1 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, the Worcester Tornadoes rallied for three runs to go up 5-1 and effectively put the game out of reach. Sussex would answer with a run in the top of the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough as the Tornadoes improved to 20-17 in the second half. Starting pitcher Baron Short allowed one run on five hits while striking out four in eight strong innings to earn his first win of the season. Worcester RF Carlos Sosa led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a RBI. Sussex RF Maikel Jova was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the losing effort.

The Brockton Rox pulled to within two games of first place in the second half thanks to a narrow win over Quebec. After scoring a run in the top of the first, the Rox added three in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead. But the Capitales came right back with three runs in the bottom of the fifth and a run in the sixth to tie the game at 4-4. But Brockton tacked on two in the eighth and held on in the ninth for the one-run victory. Reliever Keith Noe tossed a scoreless seventh to earn his third win, while DH Palmer Karr led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
