BROCKTON 4, QUEBEC 1 @ Brockton, Mass. Time: 2:05 ATT: 4,034 W: Craig Anderson (4-1) L: Marcos Castillo (7-5) S: Joey Cole (14) HR: QUE - Lee Delfino (4), BRK - Brad Rosenblat (10), Matt Cucurullo (4) Craig Anderson dazzled, limiting Quebec to one run on three hits in eight innings of work, as Brockton maintained their three-game lead in the North Division race with a 4-1 victory. The Capitales got on the board first with SS Lee Delfino's solo shot to left in the third, but the Rox came back with CF Brad Rosenblat's two-run blast in the fourth, and added insurance runs with Matt Cucurullo's solo home run in the seventh and C Brian Jones' RBI sacrifice bunt in the eighth. Joey Cole pitched a hitless ninth for his fourteenth save of the season, second-most in the league. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW JERSEY 9, ELMIRA 2 @ Little Falls, N.J. Time: 2:50 ATT: 2,004 W: Joe Orloski (6-4) L: John Dillinger (0-2) S: None HR: NJ - Jose Salas 2 (1,2) DH Jose Salas had two home runs and five RBI as New Jersey sailed to the series sweep of Elmira, winning 9-2. The Jackals scored three in the second, three in the fourth and three in the seventh, while Joe Orloski was solid, pitching seven innings and giving up two unearned runs and striking out nine. 1B Francisco Lebron went 3-for-4 for New Jersey, while CF Zach Smithlin and 2B Ricardo Cordova also had two hits each. CF Toshi Suzuki and 3B Amuary Casana both went 2-for-4 for the Pioneers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- WORCESTER 8, GRAYS 4 @ Worcester, Mass. Time: 3:07 ATT: 3,465 W: Derell McCall (4-6) L: Jodie Kennedy (3-7) S: None HR: GRAYS - Joe Jiannetti (8) Worcester efficiently tallied eight runs on seven hits and won their second straight over the Grays, 8-4. The Tornadoes drew first blood, getting four in the first on a bases-loaded walk, a wild pitch, and a two-run double from 3B Zach Strong. The Grays came back to tie it up with one in the second on a Bernard Caston RBI double, a two-run single from 3B Scott Grimes in the third and a 2B Joe Jiannetti solo home run in the fifth, but Worcester put the game away with two in the fifth and two more in the seventh. Strong and DH Chris Colabello both went 2-for-4 for the Tornadoes, while Jiannetti ended the evening 3-for-5. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- NORTH SHORE 12, NEW HAVEN COUNTY 6 @ West Haven, Conn. Time: 3:20 ATT: 1,382 W: Bryan Morse (12-2) L: Jarrett Stawarz (7-6) S: None HR: NS - Vic Davilla (21), Brian Macchi (6) North Shore kept pace with Brockton with an offensive outburst, getting 13 hits and slugging New Haven County 12-6. RF Brian Macchi led the way for the Spirit, going 3-for-4 with a fifth-inning home run, three RBI and four runs scored, while 3B Andy Howdeshell went 3-for-3 with three RBI. 1B Vic Davilla also hit a leadoff home run in the fifth inning, his 21st of the season, good for second in the Can-Am League. Bryan Morse pitched well enough to get his league-leading twelfth win of the season, giving up three earned runs on seven hits in six innings. LF Derrick Gibson and 3B Keith Stegbauer both went 3-for-4 for the Cutters, who fell to 2.5 games ahead of second-place Worcester.
