Published on June 20, 2005 under Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release

WORCESTER 5, NORTH SHORE 4 *Game 1 (9 innings) @ Worcester, Mass. Time: 2:52 W: Steve Palazollo (2-1) L: Mark Comolli (0-3) S: None HR: NS - Rob Fischer (4), Brian Macchi (1), Eric Storey (2)

The Tornadoes trailed 4-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh and would-be final inning, but SS Omar Pena started a one-man rally and brought the "Twistahs" back to tie. Pena doubled home DH Lucas Taylor to make it 4-3, and scored later on a wild pitch to knot it at four. In the bottom of the ninth, Pena provided a crucial sac bunt, putting runners on second and third. Mark Comolli intentionally walked RF Andy Brown to get to C Yohanny Valera, who delivered a short fly ball to center. North Shore CF Rob Fischer came up firing as Taylor broke from third, but came up just short as a diving Taylor barely beat the throw to the plate. Worcester came away with a thrilling 5-4 victory in extra innings.

WORCESTER 6, NORTH SHORE 0 *Game 2 @ Worcester, Mass. Time: 1:42 ATT: 2,141 W: Alex Pena (2-1) L: Peter Soteropoulos (0-2) Save: None HR: WOR - Zach Strong (1)

Alex Pena was brilliant, coming within one out of a seven-inning perfect game before walking North Shore's 1B Vic Davilla and DH Travis Oglesby. Pena struck out 11 of the 21 batters he faced, leading Worcester to a 6-0 win. Pena also barely missed a no-hitter, as RF Brian Macchi lined a single to left after the walks to Davilla and Oglesby. Worcester rallied for five in the first, and Zach Strong added a homer in the second to cap the scoring early.
