Sussex County 5, New Jersey 2 (Game 1 - 7 Innings) - Box Score

Sussex County has now won six straight against New Jersey as they defeated the Jackals in game one of a doubleheader, 5-2.

The Miners collected only three hits in the game and tallied all five of their runs in the first inning. Sussex County CF Brandon Downes went 1-for-2 with two RBIs while 3B Jarred Mederos collected a hit and scored a run. Second baseman Trey Hair and LF Jose Brizuela also helped the Miners offense by drawing a pair of walks and plating a run.

Sussex County starting pitcher Frank Duncan tossed a complete game en route to the victory. The righty allowed two earned runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts. With the win, Duncan is now 7-3 on the season.

Designated hitter Isaac Weinrich had a 2-for-3 night with a run scored in the loss for the Jackals.

New Jersey 9, Sussex County 4 (Game 2 - 7 Innings) - Box Score

New Jersey gained a split in the twinbill with Sussex County as they downed the Miners in game two by a 9-4 final. The Jackals tallied six big runs in the fifth inning to open up a 9-2 advantage and would never look back en route to win.

There were seven batters that contributed at least a hit in the contest for New Jersey. Jackals RF Demetrius Moorer led the way at the plate going a perfect 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored. New Jersey 2B Nelson Ward scored a pair of runs and drove in one in a 1-for-2 outing while 1B Isaac Weinrich, 3B Conrad Gregor andDH Richard Stock each had a hit and two RBIs.

Jackals starter Eduard Reyes threw six innings and collected his seventh win of the season. Reyes (7-2) allowed four earned runs on eight and fanned six batters.

Trois-Rivieres 3, Quebec 1 - Box Score

Shortstop Tucker Nathans launched a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give Trois-Rivieres a 3-1 lead and they would go on to beat Quebec by that same score.

The Aigles collected nine hits as a team with Nathans leading the way going 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Trois-Rivieres DH Levon Washington and RF Michael Suchy each collected a hit and a run while 2B David Glaude and 1B Juan Kelly both chipped in two hits.

Aigles starter Kevin McNorton threw six solid innings and notched the win. The University of Tampa product gave up an earned run on four hits and struck out a pair of batters. With the win, McNorton improved his mark to 7-5 on the 2019 season.

Trois-Rivieres closer Garrett Mundell tossed a scoreless ninth inning and grabbed his league leading 12th save of the year.

Ottawa 4, Rockland 2 - Box Score

Center fielder Steve Brown singled home 2B Maikol Gonzalez in the sixth inning to give Ottawa a 3-1 lead and that proved to be the difference in the game as the Champions defeated Rockland by a 4-2 score.

Brown went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored to lead the way offensively for Ottawa. Champions LF/SS Malik Collymore and Gonzalez each chipped in a hit and a run while C Andy Mocahbee blasted a solo home run, his fourth of the season. In total, Ottawa had eight hits in the contest.

Champions starting pitcher Jordan Kurokawa gave up two earned runs over seven innings of work and picked-up his first win of the season. Kurokawa (1-4) gave up two walks and five hits to go along with a strikeout.

For the Boulders in the loss, DH Matt Oberste and CF Chase Harris each launched solo home runs.
