Shikoku Island 12, Trois-Rivieres 11 - (10 Innings - Completion of Suspended Game from June 26) - Box Score
Designated hitter Takai Yuka singled home SS Sendo Katsuya with the game winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as Shikoku Island beat Trois-Rivieres in walk-off fashion, 12-11.
Shikoku Island pounded out 20 hits in the contest and scored at least a run in every inning except the seventh and the ninth. Six batters had multi-hit games for Shikoku Island, including RF Shirakata Katsuya who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Yuka had four hits in five at-bats along with a run and five RBIs while CF Kishi Junichiro and 3B Nakamura Michitaro each collected three hits and scored two runs.
Shikoku Island pitcher Ito Suguru tossed a scoreless inning of relief and notched the victory. Suguru struck out one in the three batters that he faced.
For Trois-Rivieres in the losing effort, 2B Tucker Nathans had a 3-for-5 outing with two home runs, three runs scored and four RBIs.
Shikoku Island 2, Trois-Rivieres 0 - (7 Innings/Regularly Scheduled Game) - Box Score
Shikoku Island starting pitcher Ishi Daichi turned in another terrific performance on the mound as he led his all-star team to a 2-0 victory over Trois-Rivieres.
Daichi tossed a seven-inning complete game shutout. He gave up three walks and five hits while striking out 13 in a 135-pitch outing (85 strikes). Daichi has now thrown 13 1/3 consecutive shutout innings and struck out 20 batters. With the win, the 22-year-old sports a 2-1 record on the Can-Am League trip.
Offensively for Shikoku Island, DH Sendo Katsuya collected their only hit of the game and went 1-for-3 while CF Kishi Junichiro and LF Takai Yuka each plated a run. Shikoku Island scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Cuba 5, Rockland 0 - Box Score
The Cuban National Team put together another sensational pitching performance as they downed Rockland by the score of 5-0. With the win, Cuba completed the three-game sweep of the Boulders and improved their record to 7-5 on the Can-Am trip.
Cuba starting pitcher Yariel Rodriguez and three relievers combined to toss a two-hit shutout. Rodriguez went the first six innings allowing one hit and two walks while striking out 10 batters. The bullpen trio of Yudiel Rodriguez, Pedro Jiminez and Rafael Thoppe threw the final three innings and combined to give up only one hit and a walk to go along with four strikeouts. Yariel Rodriguez earned the victory for the Cuban National Team.
In total, the Cuba pitching staff allowed only one run over the three-game series.
Offensively for the Cuban National Team, 3B Orlando Aceby went 2-for-5 with two RBIs while SS Cesar Prieto and 1B Yosvany Alacorn each collected a pair of hits, a run and an RBI.
Sussex County at Quebec - (Bottom 1 - Suspended/Rain)
The game between Sussex County and Quebec was suspended due to rain with no score in the bottom of the first inning. The contest will be completed on Saturday, July 6th followed by the regularly scheduled game.
New Jersey 7, Ottawa 6 - (Bottom 8/In Progress)
