Sussex County 11, Quebec 5
After trailing 1-0 through 2 ½ innings of play, Sussex County scored eight consecutive runs and went on to defeat Quebec by the score of 11-5.
The Miners collected 10 total hits with eight batters in the lineup collecting at least one. Daniel Mateo went 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs while Christian Correa added a home run and two RBIs in a 1-for-3 night. Audy Ciriaco and Jarred Mederos also scored a pair of runs for Sussex County.
Miners starting pitcher Cory Jones threw 7 2/3 innings and picked-up his 10th win of the season. Jones gave up five earned runs on nine hits and struck out six batters.
For Quebec in the losing effort, James McOwen had a 2-for-5 game with two runs scored.
Rockland 5, New Jersey 3
After falling behind 1-0 through an inning of action, Rockland tallied five straight runs over the next three to take control and beat New Jersey, 5-3.
Marcus Nidiffer had a terrific night at the plate for the Boulders going 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. JC Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a home run while Conor Bierfeldt added a blast of his own and two runs batted in a 1-for-4 night.
Rockland starter Bo Budkevics tossed five solid innings to earn the victory. Budkevics allowed an earned run on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts. With the win, the righty is now 1-0 on the year.
Seth Spivey had a 2-for-3 with a run scored in the loss for the Jackals.
Trois-Rivieres 4, Ottawa 1
Alberth Martinez's three-run home run in the eighth inning broke a 1-1 tie and helped Trois-Rivieres defeat Ottawa by the final of 4-1. With the victory, the Aigles have now opened up a three-game lead over New Jersey in the race for the fourth and final playoff spot.
Martinez went 1-for-4 with three RBIs while Taylor Brennan added a shot of his own along with two runs scored and an RBI in a 1-for-3 night. Brennan has 31 home runs on the season and is now only four away from tying the league record for most homers hit in a single season (Joe Maloney, 35, Rockland, 2017).
Trois-Rivieres pitcher Taylor Hyssong tossed 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to nab the victory. Hyssong is now 5-1 on the year.
For Ottawa in the loss, Vincent Guglietti went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.
