Quebec 6, Sussex County 4
Quebec finished off the three-game sweep of Sussex County as they won their seventh straight in a 6-4 decision over Sussex County.
The Capitales fell behind 4-0 after two innings of play before scoring a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game at 4-4 and then taking the lead for good in the seventh on a solo home run by SS Yordan Manduley.
Quebec 3B TJ White went 2-for-3 with a run scored while C Adam Ehrlich had a pair of hits in four at-bats and drove in two runs. Designated hitter Maxx Tissenbaum also chipped in with a run and two RBI in a 1-for-3 day for the Capitales.
Capitales pitcher Andrew Elliott tossed a scoreless seventh inning to notch his first victory of the year. Elliott gave up two hits in the four batters that he faced.
For Sussex County in defeat, DH Mikey Reynolds went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Ottawa 4, New Jersey 0
Ottawa starting pitcher Evan Rutckyj and reliever Daniel Carela combined on a two-hit shutout as the Champions defeated New Jersey by a 4-0 score.
Rutckyj went the first eight innings of the contest allowing the two hits and three walks while striking out seven in 111 pitches. Carela pitched the ninth inning and allowed only a walk in the four batters he faced. Rutckyj earned the win and is now 2-3 on the season.
Ottawa banged out 12 hits in the contest with four batters having multi-hit games. Champions CF Chase Harris went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI while SS Daniel Bick and DH Sebastien Boucher each had a pair of hits and drove in a run. Second baseman Zak Colby also chipped in two hits in four at-bats and plated a run.
