Trois-Rivieres 5, New Jersey 2
The Trois-Rivieres Aigles turned three hits into five runs as they topped the New Jersey Jackals 5-2.The Aigles took the lead in the third inning when LF Drew Miller scored on a sacrifice fly from DH Steve Brown. In the next at bat, 3B Eric Grabe (pictured) scored as 2B Jose Cuevas bounced out to the second baseman. Grabe pushed the AIgles further out in front in the fifth inning when he hit a two-run homerun. Grabe went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored in the game. Brown and C Kyle Lafrenz had the other two hits for the Aigles.For the Jackals, C Tony Caldwell and 3B Steve Nikorak went 2-for-4 and SS Richard Arias went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Starting pitcher Matthew Rusch picked up the win as he went six innings and allowed two runs on six hits while striking out nine batters.
Quebec 10, Rockland 4
The Quebec Capitales jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and ended up with a 10-4 over the Rockland Boulders.Quebec racked up ten hits in the game thanks in large part to 2B/CF Mike Provencher along with 3B Balbino Fuenmayor and LF Matt Helms as they each had a pair of hits. Helms also had two RBI and SS Jonathan Malo had a game-high three RBI.For the Boulders, seven different batters registered hits in the game as Rockland also had ten hits in the game. 2B Matt Nandin, C Marcus Nidiffer and SS Junior Arrojo all had two-hit games led by Arrojo who went 2-for-3 and a run scored. Starter Shawn Sanford was tabbed as the winner on the mound. Sanford went seven innings and gave up two unearned runs on eight hits while striking out eight batters.
