Rockland 5, Worcester 1
A terrific pitching performance by Rockland starting pitcher Dan Jurik leads the Boulders to a 5-1 win over the Worcester Tornadoes at Provident Bank Park Sunday afternoon. Jurik went 6 1/3 innings allowing only an earned run on seven hits with a walk and five strikeouts. With the victory, he improved his record to 2-1 on the season. Rockland was led offensively by the 2-3 hitters of RF Qualon Millender and DH Keith Brachold. Millender and Brachold went a combined 5-for-9 at the plate scoring all five runs and driving in one. For Worcester in defeat, DH Nick Salotti and C Chris Torres each had two-hit games.
Quebec 9, New Jersey 6
The Quebec Capitales rallied for six runs in the top of the ninth inning to overcome a 4-3 deficit and beat the New Jersey Jackals, 9-6. Quebec opened up the scoring in the top of the third inning on a RBI single by 3B Jonathan Malo. The Capitales would extend their lead to 3-0 in the fifth as SS Jeff Helps doubled in two more. The Jackals then responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead at 4-3. The score would stay that way until the ninth as Quebec's RF Steve Brown led off the inning with a solo home run and tied the game at 4-4. The Capitales would add on five more runs to move the lead to 9-4. New Jersey's DH Carlos Guzman hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the ninth but it would not be enough as Quebec held on for the victory.
