Quebec 11, New Jersey 0
Matthew Rusch, now 6-4 on the season, pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits and striking out 13 to help Quebec cruise to an 11-0 win against New Jersey at Le Stade Municipal Stadium. After both teams were scoreless during the first five frames, the Capitales got on the board in the sixth inning and took a 2-0 lead against the Jackals. In the bottom of the next frame, Quebec hitters hit four home runs in a row, and a total of five home runs in the inning. Quebec scored nine total runs in the seventh inning and had 11 hits in the game. Nine different Capitales had hits in the game, and first baseman Robert Wagner led with two hits, two runs and four RBI in four at-bats. Second baseman DAngelo Jimenez, catcher Myron Leslie and right fielder Nick Santomauro were the only Jackals to register hits in the game. Jon Kibler, now 0-5 on the season, earned the loss by allowing six hits, six runs and striking out four in six innings pitched.
Pittsfield 6, New York 0 (game 1 of a doubleheader)
T.J. Wink, now 4-0 on the season, pitched seven scoreless innings and allowed just four hits to lead Pittsfield to a 6-0 win against New York in game one of a doubleheader at Wahconah Park. After two scoreless frames, Pittsfield got on the board in the bottom of the third inning when catcher Scott Knazek, left fielder Jermel Lomack and center fielder Jerod Edmondson each scored a run. The Colonials got on the board again in the fifth inning when second baseman Peter Fatse hit a two-RBI single. In the sixth inning, Pittsfield scored it last and final run of the game when shortstop Danny Bomback singled to bat in Knazek. Knazek led the Colonials with two runs and three hits in three at-bats, and Fatse chipped in one hit and three RBI. Four different Federals had hits in the game, and New York pitcher Luis Pardo registered the loss by allowing nine hits, six runs and striking out three in 5.2 innings pitched.
Pittsfield 4, New York 1 (game 2 of a doubleheader)
Pittsfield scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning en route to a 4-1 win against New York in game two of a doubleheader at Wahconah Park. The Colonials got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when left fielder Jerod Edmondson scored a run, but New York added one of its own in the next frame when right fielder Tom Maloney singled to score first baseman Eddie Lantigua. In the third inning, Pittsfield took back the lead once and for all when Edmondson doubled to score center fielder Quentin Davis, and Edmondson and third baseman Billy Mottram followed with runs of their own. Pittsfield recorded eight total hits in the game, and Edmondson led with three hits, two runs and one RBI in three at-bats. New York had just three total hits, and Maloney led with one hit and one RBI in three at-bats.
Worcester 7, Brockton 0
Shawn Gilblair, now 5-5 on the season, pitched a complete game shutout, allowing four hits and striking out five to lead Worcester to a 7-0 win against Brockton at Hanover Insurance Park. Worcester got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning when catcher Alex Trezza and center fielder Cameron Monger each scored a run, and the Tornadoes scored three more in the fifth. In the sixth frame, designated hitter Nick Salotti and right fielder Ryan Crespi each had a solo home run to seal the deal for Worcester. The Tornadoes recorded nine total hits in the game, and Crespi led with two hits, two runs and one RBI in four at-bats. Brockton had just four hits in the game, and the Rox combined for three errors. Freddy Flores, now 6-6 on the season, recorded the loss by allowing eight hits, seven runs and striking out three in 5.2 innings pitched.
Rockland 8, Newark 0
Five different Rockland batters had a pair of hits, and Jonathan Velasquez pitched a complete game shutout to help lead the Boulders to an 8-0 win against Newark at Provident Bank Park. Rockland scored in the first inning when center fielder Norm Hutchins doubled to drive in second baseman Ray Stokes, and Rockland added two more in each of the third and fourth innings. In the bottom of the fifth inning, right fielder Ryde Rodriguez hit a two-RBI double and Stokes batted in first baseman Cristobal Santana to seal the deal for the Boulders. Third baseman Ryan Mollica had two hits and three RBI for Rockland, and Rodriguez chipped in two hits, one run and two RBI. Newark had four total hits in the game, and third baseman Paddy Matera had two of them. Velasquez earned the win by allowing just four hits and striking out seven in nine innings pitched, while Newark's Trevor Marcotte recorded the loss by allowing nine hits, eight runs and striking out two in four innings pitched.
