Can-Am League Game Recaps

July 25, 2011 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release

Brockton 8, Quebec 5

Entering the eighth inning working from a three-run deficit, the Rox put six runs on the board in the final two frames to take an 8-5 win over Quebec. And they did it without a single extra-base hit in the comeback. The go-ahead run came on a fielder's choice by 3B Mike Torres, scoring pinch-running Freddy Florres from second on a Quebec error. Eventually the run was scored as earned thanks to a couple more hits in the inning that built the Rox' lead to three runs. The Brockton bullpen duo of Mark Rosen and Jake Hale paired to get the win (Rosen) and the save (Hale). Rosen threw two perfect innings with one strikeout. Hale threw a no-hit ninth with two walks and two K's. Leadoff Brockton CF Chris Valencia went 3-for-4, scored twice and batted in one run to lead the offensive effort. Quebec broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run effort championed by SS Jeff Helps. Helps batted in two runs on a single, eventually landing on second thanks to an error. He finished the night 1-for-3 with a run and two RBI.
