Can-Am League Game Recaps

May 29, 2011 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release

Brockton 8, Worcester 5

Brockton jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings that Worcester was never able to rally back from. Shawn Williams hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning to help build the lead. Worcester pitcher Chris Allen lasted just 1.1 innings and got the loss for allowing five runs on five hits. Chris Grossman also homered for Brockton, and Nick Salotti and Boomer Blanchard both hit home runs for Worcester. Robert Bono got the win for Brockton despite pitching only 5.1 innings.

Newark 4, New Jersey 3

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Tim Raines Jr. took advantage of an A.J. Wideman wild pitch and crossed home plate for Newark's fourth run. That run proved to be the difference as New Jersey was only able to send one more runner across the plate in the final four innings. Pitcher Eric Eden gave up just one earned run in 6.2 innings on the mound to get the win. RF Danny Santiesteban was 3-3 with a double and an RBI for Newark. Catcher Myron Leslie hit his first home run of the season in the loss.

Pittsfield 9, Rockland 6

Pittsfield scored nine runs in the first three innings, and that was all it needed to get by Rockland. Four separate Pittsfield batters had two RBIs to lead an offense that had 16 hits on the day. Pitcher Mike Zenko got the win as he fanned seven batters and allowed just two runs. Rockland pitcher John Muller also struck out seven batters, but gave up nine runs on 13 hits and picked up the loss. 1B Jerod Edmondson was 4-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Pittsfield.

New York at Quebec (Postponed - Rain)

The game scheduled between New York and Quebec was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on June 14th, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
