Sussex County 11, New Jersey 3 (Game 1) - Box Score
After falling behind 3-0 through four innings of action, Sussex County took command as they tallied 11 runs over their final five trips to the plate and cruised past New Jersey, 11-3.
The Miners collected eight hits as a team with three batters having at least two. Sussex County LF Jose Brizuela went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI while DH Nate Coronado picked-up two hits, including a home run, along with three runs scored and three RBIs. Miners 2B Trey Hair also contributed to the Miners offense by launching a blast of his own and driving in a pair of runs.
Sussex County starting pitcher Tom Burns allowed two earned runs over seven innings of work and notched the win. The righty gave up two walks and seven hits to go along with three strikeouts. With the victory, Burns is now 3-1 on the year.
For New Jersey in the loss, DH Isaac Wenrich had a 2-for-3 day with a double and a run scored.
