Newark 5, Rockland 3
In the only game of the night, the Newark Bears plated two runs in the top of the ninth inning to break a 3-3 tie and defeat the Rockland Boulders, 5-3. Bears RF Eric McGee went 2-for-4 with a run scored while 1B Daryle Ward collected two hits, including a first inning solo home run. Newark C Billy Alvino also plated two runs in a 1-for-4 night. Bears reliever Anthony Pluta fanned two batters in a scoreless eighth inning to notch his second win of the season. Rockland starting pitcher Patrick Moran was terrific tonight in a no-decision, going eight innings and giving up an earned run on four hits with 12 strikeouts.
