The Sussex Skyhawks took game one of the Can-Am League Championship Series in dramatic fashion as RF Jorge Moreno drove a single to left in the bottom of the 10th inning to score CF Ron Perodin from second and give the Skyhawks a 3-2 victory. The hit for Moreno was his second of the game, leaving him 2-for-4 in the contest with a pair of RBI to lead the way for Sussex at the plate. Perodin, batting from the leadoff spot, did his job nicely as well, going 1-for-3 scoring all three Skyhawks runs. The starting pitchers for each side pitched well with neither factoring in the decision. Quebec starter Michel Simard allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and fanned five in 7 2/3 innings. His counterpart, Sussex starter Kyle Ruwe allowed two runs, one earned, on nine hits and fanned two in 7 1/3 innings. In the end, it was Skyhawks closer Matt Petrusek who picked up the win. He fanned one in a perfect 10th inning to set the stage for Moreno's heroics.
