East Texas PumpJacks News Release

East Texas ballplayers will again have a chance to learn the game from the best with the return of the Pump Jacks skills camps.

Young players are given the opportunity to enhance every aspect of their game with the help of the 2011 Pump Jacks players and coaches. Camps are broken down into the three core areas of baseball: pitching and catching, fielding and hitting.

Players will receive instruction on the foundations of each area needed to compete at the higher levels of the game. The Pump Jacks coaching staff have both played and coached at advanced stages of baseball, including the professional level, providing participants with the insight and experience to improve their game on both sides of the ball.

As an added bonus, every participant will receive a free Pump Jacks ticket for every camp they attend!

The All Skills Camp focuses on the basics of baseball. Participants will learn about how to reach base by hitting and then how to move around the bases with the fundamentals of baserunning. While scoring runs is important, defense wins games. The All Skills Camp is rounded out with the essentials of fielding, both in the infield and outfield and the proper techniques of throwing. The camp will take place on June 22 and 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The cost is $45 per participant.

Every baseball player wants to hit the ball like Josh Hamilton or Albert Pujols and with the help of the Hitting Camp, players will be on their way. Participants will learn every detail of stepping into the batter's box, from stance and footwork to a step-by-step breakdown of their swing. Young players will get a chance to learn from the powerhouses of the 2011 Pump Jacks squad on June 29 & 30 from 9 a.m. to Noon. The cost per person is $40.

For the players who prefer to stifle Hamilton and Pujols instead of hit like them, the Pump Jacks offer the Pitching/Catching Camp. Youngsters will learn the Pump Jacks pitchers and coaches, who will guide participants through everything from to how to stretch to the best way to practice. Players will be instructed on how to properly execute their wind-up to compliment each individual pitching style. Catchers will also receive firsthand instruction on throwing, receiving and handling pitchers during a game. The Pitching/Catching Camp will take place on July 11 and 12 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost per person is $40.

Discounts are available by registering for more than one camp. Signing up for all three costs $100, saving $25 per participant. Signing up for two camps costs just $75 per person.

Camps will take place at historic Driller Park and players are required to bring their own equipment (gloves, bats, cleats, etc.).
