Augusta Lynx News Release
Augusta, GA - The Augusta Lynx are proud to announce today that director of public relations and broadcasting Tom Callahan has accepted an opportunity for the same role with the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League.
Callahan has called every Lynx game for the past four seasons, making him the longest-tenured broadcaster in team history. The 30-year-old Lackawanna, NY native departs after calling 292 games for the club, plus a selection to the broadcast team for the 2005 ECHL All-Star Game.
"It's the same thing when a player goes to the AHL or NHL - you don't lose bad people," said Lynx owner and general manager Dan Troutman. "While from a team standpoint we're not happy to see a good, hard-working person go, we're happy for Tom's advancement as a professional."
In addition to working as a professional hockey broadcaster for the past eight seasons, Callahan has covered professional baseball, the NJCAA Ice Hockey National Championships, and worked for TNT Motorsports.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for me with a great organization," said Callahan of Peoria. "I want to thank everyone who has helped make Augusta my home for the past four seasons. I will definitely miss each and every one of you."
A search will begin immediately to fill the position. Interested applicants may submit materials by mailing them to: Augusta Lynx, c/o Broadcasting Position, PO Box 819, Augusta, GA, 30903.
Come see Callahan at Carrabba's on Thursday, May 17th from 11 - 1 pm along with Louie the Lynx as they work MCG's celebrity waiter luncheon. Tickets are $15, a large portion of which goes to MCG's Children's Medical Center. Come on out and have a great time!
