Call Now If You Want To Host A Copperhead

January 12, 2011 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Asheboro Copperheads News Release

One of the most important aspects of a successful CPL franchise is creating a solid host family program for players and the Asheboro Copperheads have been very fortunate over the years to have developed a very strong network of host families.

While we expect many of our past host families to be back with us this summer, there's always a need for new ones as we strive to introduce new families to an experience that can not only be rewarding for them and for our players. Host families allow players into their home for the season, providing them with a place to live and relax day to day when they are not at the ballpark or traveling to another CPL city for a game.

Host families are required only to provide a clean, private place to sleep, a shower and laundry facilities. Players provide their own transportation to all team-related activities and meals are not required, although families may include their players in meals or other family activities and events. Host families will receive complimentary season passes for all home games.

All Copperhead players are student-athletes, currently enrolled in a college or university and are members of their school baseball program. Hosts families should be mindful that players can receive no financial compensation of any kind during the CPL summer, thus retaining their amateur status and collegiate eligibility. Whether host families choose a player because he's from their favorite school or alma mater, because he plays the same position as their little league-age child, or for some other reason, we know that our players are going to have an invaluable experience that would not have been possible without their host family - their family away from home. We believe that hosting a player will provide a wonderful and memorable experience for every member of the host family. Regardless of your reason, we hope that you might consider hosting a player in 2011.

Although our players won't arrive until late May, the placement of players is something that will hopefully be finalized by the first of April. If your family kept players late summer, or has done so in previous years and would like to do so again, please contact the Copperheads' office and let us know your plans for 2011. Requests are already being taken and every attempt will be made to accommodate families with regard to players from specific schools or because of personal interests. If you're interested, please contact General Manager David Camp at dcamp@teamcopperheads.com, or call (336) 460-7018.
