California Dream Wins Again

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (July 14, 2015) - Sacramento's California Dream began their Mylan World TeamTennis inaugural season on a strong note as they defeated the Philadelphia Freedoms 22-20 in extended play during tonight's home match at Sunrise Marketplace. The California Dream have played three matches with standings at 2-1 for the season.

Men's doubles opened the night with Robby Genepri and Marcelo Melo in a battle with Tennys Sandgren and Neal Skupski, the Freedoms won the first set to score victory in this set.

In the next set, Jarka Gajdosova and Anabel Medina Garrigues fought hard against CoCo Vandeweghe and Taylor Townsend (Freedoms) 5-4 to win a set victory for the Dream.

Mixed doubles netted another set win for the Dream with Neal Skupski and Annabel Medina Garrigues beating Marcelo Melo and CoCo Vandeweghe (Freedoms) 5-3.

In the fourth set, CoCo Vandeweghe took the win from Jarka Gajdosova for the Freedoms 5-3 in women's singles.

In the final set, men's singles, The Freedom's, Robby Ginepri, defeated Tennys Sandgren the 5-3.

Men's Singles - Men's Singles - Tennys Sandgren (Dream) def. Robby Ginepri (Freedoms) 5-3

The California Dream play their next home match on Friday, July 17 at 7:30 p.m., which is also Citrus Heights Night with a special ceremony to honor local veterans. They will face the visiting Austin Aces (2-0).

Sunrise Marketplace, in Citrus Heights, Calif., will host all home matches during the 2015 regular season which runs through July 29. The Dream will play seven home matches this July on a specially constructed stadium in the North parking lot at Sunrise Mall. Sunrise MarketPlace will be an inaugural sponsor of the California Dream.
