Calgary Storm in Preliminary Stage of Foothills Park Development

CALGARY â The Calgary Storm Football Club is currently in the preliminary stages of creating plans for the development of Foothills Stadium into a multi-use facility with the club's A-League franchise as primary tenant.
The project is planned to be completed by the start of the 2003 A-League season.
This is a proposed private joint venture between the Calgary Storm and corporate sponsors. No municipal government funds will be solicited to back the venture.
Using the existing infrastructure currently available at Foothills, the stadium's seating capacity will be increased and fan amenities upgraded in accordance with the United Soccer League's A-League guidelines.
The revamped stadium will have seating for 8,000 spectators. This includes 12 corporate boxes located along the stadium's west grandstand.
Upgrades will also include a larger concession kiosk, ticket booths, team dressing rooms, media and control facilities.
A new stadium entrance will welcome fans to what will be the premier outdoor soccer facility in Southern Alberta. Ideally management of the proposed new facility would be through a non-profit foundation comprised of members of the soccer and track and field community.
The prefabricated stadium will also include lighting for night games.
Some minor changes will be made to the existing track and field facilities at the stadium, but only in a manner that will enhance their usage. The Storm is excited about the positive relationships being forged with the Calgary Track and Field Council and Calgary Soccer Federation
In accordance with the Storm's commitment to improving the growth and development of soccer in Calgary, the facility will be made available for all Calgary Soccer Federation championship games. Track and Field events will continue at Foothills Park.
