Calgary And Edmonton to Square Off in Golden Baseball League North Division Playoffs

San Ramon, CA. August 24, 2009 - The Golden Baseball League announced today that the Calgary Vipers have clinched the second half Northern Division pennant and will face the Edmonton Capitals who clinched the wildcard berth in the north last night when the Yuma Scorpions defeated the Chico Outlaws.
Calgary is the first team in the GBL to win both halves in a division, and this will be the second straight year that these two teams have met in the playoffs. In 2008, Calgary prevailed and went on to the GBL Championship Series where they lost to the Orange County Flyers.
The best-of-five North Division playoffs will open on Tuesday, September 1st at Edmonton's Telus Field for two games in the capital city. Thursday is an off day and the teams will return to action on Friday night, September 4th at Foothills Stadium in Calgary. Games 4 and 5, if necessary will also be in Calgary on Saturday, September 5th and Sunday, September 6th.
