ST. GEORGE, Utah (August 24) - Long Beach turned three inning-ending double plays en route to a 5-3 comeback win over the St. George RoadRunners in the first game of a doubleheader at Bruce Hurst Field on Monday.

All-Stars shortstop Omar Bramasco and second baseman Dan Luyben quickly erased errant base runners, matching a season-high with three double plays in the game, including a twin-killing in the final inning to end the game. Doubleheaders in the GBL are seven-inning games.

Armada starter Dusty Gober once again stymied the RoadRunners in St. George. Gober (4-0) allowed three runs off seven hits in five innings, earning his second win over the RoadRunners in two weeks.

J.J. Sherrill broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning with a sac-fly to score Brandon Howard from third base. Matt Edgecombe followed with an RBI-single to cash Bramasco for a 4-2 lead. Josh Womack blasted his third homerun of the season with two outs in the sixth inning to give the Armada an insurance run.

Rusty Jones pitched two scoreless innings of relief for his fourth save of the season.

Long Beach overcame an early 2-0 deficit in the fourth inning. With runners on the corners, Andy Bouchie drove in Steve Moss, and in the next at-bat Matt Edgecombe scored on a wild pitch to tie the game, 2-2.

RoadRunners starter David Seccombe took the loss for St. George. Seccombe (7-5) gave up four runs off five hits in 4 1/3 innings.
