By the Numbers: FC Cincinnati at Seattle Sounders FC

September 25, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - FC Cincinnati News Release

FC Cincinnati head back out west to take on Seattle Sounders FC. Kickoff from Lumen Field in the Emerald City is set for Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, and the game will be televised on WSTR 64, streamed regionally on fccincinnati.com/stream, out of market on ESPN+, on radio on ESPN 1530 while an audio stream will be available via the iHeartRadio app.

Let's break down this matchup, by the numbers.

3

FC Cincinnati Head Coach Pat Noonan will coach against Seattle Sounders FC, a club that he played with from 2010-11, where he scored one goal in 21 MLS appearances and was part of the club's back-to-back Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup title runs.

Seattle will mark the third club he has coached against with FC Cincinnati of the five teams that he played for in his MLS career. He's already squared off twice against the New England Revolution and Columbus Crew, but has yet to manage the Orange and Blue versus the Colorado Rapids or LA Galaxy.

FC Cincinnati are unbeaten in 10 straight games, the longest active streak in MLS. It is also tied for the longest unbeaten run in all of MLS this season (New England Revolution: April 30 - July 3; Portland Timbers: June 18 - August 6). A result in Seattle would give the Orange and Blue the longest unbeaten streak in MLS this season, as no other club has an active unbeaten run longer than six games with the season winding down.

The Sounders held the longest undefeated streak last season in MLS, a 13-game run from April 16 to July 7.

The amount of combined goals Seattle's two leading goal scorers, Raúl Ruidíaz and Jordan Morris, have combined for. The Orange and Blue perhaps may catch a break though, as Ruidíaz (Peru) and Morris (United States) were each called into camp for their respective national teams, leaving in question whether they will suit up on Tuesday night.

The duo join Xavier Arreaga (Ecuador), Nouhou (Cameroon) and the Roldan brothers, Alex (El Salvador) and Cristian (injury) who could all potentially miss Tuesday's crucial match for Seattle.

21

The Sounders have played in 21 MLS games this season to have been decided by one goal, more than any other club in MLS. Their record in those game? 7-14. Even if just a few of those games finished in a draw or went another way, Brian Schmetzer's perhaps would not be on the outside looking in on the MLS Playoffs with time ticking away in the season.

CF Montréal have played the next closest one-goal games in the league at 20. In those contests they are 14-6, which has helped land them in second place in the Eastern Conference, showing how close the margins are in MLS.

FC Cincinnati are 6-5 this season in games decided by a single goal.

123

FC Cincinnati last matched up against the Sounders on March 2, 2019, the inaugural MLS match in FCC's history. Fast forward over three years, and Tuesday will mark the 123rd MLS contest for the Orange and Blue all-time.

735

The amount of points accumulated in MLS regular season play by Sounders FC since they entered MLS in 2009. That is the most among all MLS teams since then.
