Bushi Combat Mixed Martial Arts is looking to it's fans to help knock out blood Cancers for future victims in their next show May 31 at the Dayton Convention Center.

Bushi Combat has partnered with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Blake LaForce Camp and the National Marrow Registry to make the May show a "Fight for the Cure." Blake LaForce is a senior at Vandalia-Butler High School who was diagnosed with Leukemia in November. He is currently preparing for a marrow transplant.

"Leukemia and Lymphoma affect millions of families world wide and the battle to defeat this disease has been a long and expensive one," Bushi Combat partner Matthew King said. "And, there are just 10 million people worldwide on the National Marrow Registry, which helps with bone marrow transplants Leukemia victims need to help win the battle against the disease. "We want to raise money for these programs and also help them raise awareness of the diseases and what everyone can do to help contribute to the victory over these devastating illnesses."

Bushi Combat will present the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society with a portion of the proceeds from the evening and everyone in attendance will have a chance to become a part of the National Marrow Registry.

"Being in health care, these are important associations that need help in their fight against these terrible diseases," Bushi Combat partner Jeff Kolaczkowski said. "We are a family oriented sports entertainment business and believe part of what we need to do is to give back and help make an impact in people's lives."

The May 31 card will feature professional and amateur fights and will begin at 7 p.m. at the Dayton Convention Center. In addition, a moment of silence will be held for Heather Walker, the daughter of Bushi Combat partner Robert Walker. Her body was discovered April 25 in downtown Dayton.

"Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the Walker family," King said. "We felt it was appropriate to honor her life before the show. "Many of our fighters, coaches and staff at Bushi Combat knew and loved Heather. It will be very special and emotional to honor her at a show where we are giving back to the community. She would have loved that."
