May 28, 2015 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL)
North Shore Navigators News Release

The North Shore Navigators have announced that Katie Burt will throw out the first pitch on Opening Night at Fraser Field. Burt, a Lynn native, just finished her freshman year at Boston College, where she is the starting goalie on the Women's Ice Hockey Team. Burt has also represented the city of Lynn as a member of the U18 national team that recently won the 2015 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Championship.

"Katie Burt is the perfect person to throw out the first pitch," said General Manager Bill Terlecky. "Katie grew up in the city participating in youth sports and through her hard work and talent she has been able to take her talents to the next level. We, like the rest of the city, are extremely proud of her accomplishments!"

Burt had a stellar freshman year at Boston College where she started in 35 games for the Eagles, finishing with goals against average of 1.11, which was the top mark in the nation. Burt also made 608 saves, which put her save-percentage of .941, which was the fifth, best in the country.  Burt finished the season with a 30-3-2 record. Burt also played an integral role on the U18 USA Team that won the Gold Medal at the IIHF World Championship.

Although Burt shines on the ice, she is no stranger to the baseball diamond. Burt is a graduate of both Wyoma Little League and Greater Lynn Babe Ruth.

"Katie is an overall great kid," said Greater Lynn Babe Ruth President Jim Bealiveau. "She just works so hard and completely deserves any accolade that comes her way."

Katie and the North Shore Navigators will open up the 2015 Futures Collegiate Baseball League season at Fraser Field on Saturday, June 6th. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Tickets are still available by calling 781-595-9400 or by visiting www.nsnavs.com.
