
Burlington Bees Announce 2019 Openning Day Roster

Burlington, Iowa - The Burlington Bees, Midwest League affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, have announced their opening day roster. The list features four of the Angels top 30 minor league prospects in pitcher Jose Soriano, infielders Kevin Maitan and Livan Soto, and outfielder Jordyn Adams.
Adams was the Angels number one draft pick in 2018, and enjoyed a successful inaugural campaign with the rookie level Orem Owlz. The 19 year old was the 17th overall selection. In 40 plate appearances he hit .314, with a .375 on base percentage, and .861 OPS. He is ranked as the organizations number 6 prospect.
The teams starting rotation does not have a player over 23 years old. Soriano (22) will open the season for Burlington on Thursday evening against the Quad Cities River Bandits. The Angels number 13 prospect started 14 games for the Bees last year. He will be followed by Cole Duensing (20), Jake Lee (23), Luis Alvarado (22) and Hector Yan (20), all of whom threw for Orem in 2018.
The infield will showcase the number 15 and 19 Angels prospects in Venezualans Maitan, and Soto. Both played for Orem last year. Both are just 19 years old.
Returning to the to the club are catchers Harrison Wenson and Alexis Olmeda, as well as closer Mayky Perez. First baseman Connor Fitzsimons is back, along with infielder Gleyvin Pineda.
Bees General Manager Kim Parker said, "I am excited about our team. We are glad to have some returning players, and I'm looking forward to watching some of the organizations best prospects."
Former major leaguer Jack Howell will manage the club for the second year. He is joined by pitching coach Jonathan Van Eaton, also in his second year. First year coaches are Will Bradley, hitting, and Trevor Nyp, defense.
