CHESTER, Pa. - The Philadelphia Union beat the San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 on Saturday night at Subaru Park. With the win, the Union are now tied for first place in the Eastern Conference with seven points, their best start to an MLS season in club history. The Union opened up the scoring in the 23rd minute with a goal by Cory Burke, assisted by Sergio Santos. Burke becomes the eighth Union player in club history to score 20 MLS regular season goals, joining Le Toux, Sapong, Przybylko, McInerney, Ilsinho, Picault, and Casey. Daniel Gazdag scored his second goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 58th minute, his sixth career MLS goal. Goalkeeper Andre Blake recorded his first clean sheet of the season. Head Coach Jim Curtin reached his 100th MLS regular season win, making him the 13th MLS coach to reach this milestone.
The Union are on the road at Yankee Stadium where they will play New York City FC on Saturday, March 19th (1:00 p.m. ET / 6ABC).
