
Bulls Weekly - Friday Night Game Raising Money for Wildfire Families

AMARILLO, TX - A six point weekend for the Amarillo Bulls helped them push their 2nd place advantage in the NAHL's South Division over the Texas Tornado to four points with three games in hand. The Bulls beat the Tornado for the fourth straight time 3-2, and then swept the Corpus Christi IceRays 5-1 and 4-1.
TRIPLEHEADER AT HOME: It's a short time off for the Amarillo Bulls as they resume action on Friday and begin a tripleheader of home games at the Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. It faces off on Friday with a visit by the New Mexico Mustangs at 7 pm, followed by back-to-back contests against the Topeka RoadRunners on Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 6 o'clock.
WEEKEND PROMOTIONS: The Amarillo Bulls will help support those families affected by the Wildfires on Friday night when the New Mexico Mustangs are in town. One dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to the local chapter of the American Red Cross, Texas Panhandle Chapter. Saturday is $1 hotdog night when a doubleheader with Topeka begins, and on Sunday, the first 200 fans will receive a limited edition Red Bulls T-Shirt courtesy of UniFirst.

BROADCAST SCHEDULE: All three of this weekend's games can be heard live on ESPN1440 and www.amarillobulls.com, beginning with the Bulls Warm Up Show Presented By Wayland Baptist University at 6:45 pm on Friday and Saturday, while Sunday starts at 5:45 pm. Denis J. Puska has the exciting action to follow. All games are available on Pay-Per-View courtesy of Fast Hockey and a high speed internet connection is required in order to view the game.
STATS PACK:
STINGY DEFENSE, SPECIAL TEAMS OPPORTUNISTIC: Opponents had a difficult time beating the Amarillo Bulls defensively and goaltender Nikifor Szczerba. The Bulls surrendered just four goals in three games, including two on the power play. The Bulls special teams were also very productive with two power play goals and one shorthanded on Sunday afternoon versus the IceRays. Nikifor Szczerba posted three straight wins to put him in the lead among NAHL netminders with 28.
POINT STREAK CONTINUES: With the three victories on the road over the weekend, the Amarillo Bulls extended their point streak to eight games and a record of 6-0-2.
ROAD TRIP REWIND:
AMARILLO 3 - TEXAS 2: Brooks Behling fired the game winning goal in the third period as the Bulls held off a late charge from the Texas Tornado to win 3-2. Sean Keane and Joe Kozlak had the other Amarillo markers in the contest. Goaltender Nikifor Szczerba stopped 32 of 34 shots he faced.
AMARILLO 5 - CORPUS CHRISTI 1: The Amarillo Bulls scored five goals in the first 21 minutes of the game and went on to dump the IceRays 5-1 on Sunday afternoon. Two of the goals were tallied via the power play and another shorthanded. Cody Freeman, Mitch Rogge, Dan McDougall, Alex Wiese and Matt Johnson earned goals. Zack Smoot had two assists, while Johnson and Wiese had helpers go along with their goals.
AMARILLO 4 - CORPUS CHRISTI 1: Three third-period goals snapped a 1-1 tie and lifted the Amarillo Bulls past the Corpus Christi IceRays 4-1 on Monday night. Cody Freeman, Dan Sherer and Zack Smoot scored in the third period. Michael Erickson had the other Bulls' goal that was tallied in the middle period. Johnson had three assists, while Smoot and Sherer each had an assist to give them two points in the contest. The Bulls fired 24 second-period shots which equaled a record set at home several weeks ago. Goaltender Nikifor Szczerba stopped 34 of 35 shots he faced.
