Bulls Visit Topeka Tonight and Tomorrow

BULLS NEXT AT HOME: The Amarillo Bulls return home to face the Lone Star Brahmas this Saturday at 7 pm at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. It's Amarillo Youth Hockey Night and the Bulls will mark the occasion by wearing specialty jerseys with a live auction to follow immediately after the game. All proceeds to benefit Amarillo Youth Hockey. Fans are also encouraged to come out and get their pictures taken with the Frozen Characters.

GET YOUR TICKETS: Tickets are available at the Bull Office located at 301 South Polk and open from 9 am to 5:30 pm as well as on game day from 10 am to 4 pm. THE SERIES: It's hard to believe but it's just the first meetings of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners as the two teams renew one of the best rivalries in the North American Hockey League. After this week, the teams will not see one another until the first weekend in February in the Texas Panhandle. There will be four more games in March and again in the first weekend in April.

A RIVALRY RESTORED: The Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners have had one of the better rivalries in the entire North American Hockey League. The teams have met on the biggest stages numerous occasions from back-to-back South Division Championship Series to the Robertson Cup National Championship Tournament. The Bulls have collected two South Division post season titles in Topeka (2010-2011, 2011-2012), while the RoadRunners have picked up one in Amarillo (2013-14). Last season the Bulls won two of the eight games and both took place at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.

Oddly enough in the early part of the rivalry, the Bulls dominated games at Kansas Expo Center Landon Arena, but the last two seasons it has been the RoadRunners stepping up. Topeka has won the last nine games at home dating back to November of 2013.

WEEKEND REWIND: The Amarillo Bulls suffered a pair of losses to the Lone Star Brahmas in North Richland Hills over the weekend. The Brahmas dumped the Bulls 2-0 and 3-1. Charlie Singerhouse had the lone Bulls goal in the two contests. Meantime, Topeka defeated Springfield Jr. Blues 2-1 and then 2-1 in overtime. Quinn Preston and Dominic Lutz grabbed the game winning goals.

SCHEDULE ANYONE: It seems like both the Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners have played the same teams lately. The Bulls have seen the Lone Star Brahmas six times in the last month and a half, while the RoadRunners have faced Springfield six times in their last eight games.
