Amarillo Bulls News Release
Topeka, KS - Despite shooting 47 times in the game, the Amarillo Bulls couldn't find the back of the net, as the Topeka Pilots shutout the Bulls 2-0 on Friday night.
The loss is the second consecutive loss for the Bulls and third loss to Topeka during the 2019-2020 campaign.
After the opening minutes saw a number of saves from both netminders, Topeka's Luc Salem opened the scoring mid-way through the first period with a wrist shot that found its way under the crossbar. The rest of the period saw a clean run from Bulls goaltender Ethan Lahmon, who recovered from the goal allowed to take the teams into the intermission with a one goal separation.
The second period was a fast-paced, hard-hitting frame that saw the Bulls turn 17 shots on goal that were all turned aside by Topeka's Jakub Dobes.
With a 1-0 Topeka lead, the two teams headed into the third period with the game still in up for grabs. The feeling would change as Shawn Kennedy found a rebound that he tucked home for Topeka's second goal of the game.
The 2-0 score line would hold for the remainder of the game, solidifying a Topeka win. With the loss, the Bulls drop to 3-3-0-1 on the season.
The Bulls will resume action on Saturday in Topeka, when they complete the three-game set with the Pilots. The action will begin at 7:05 PM CST on Saturday night and can be heard on 107.1 Nash Icon and seen on Hockey TV.
