Amarillo Bulls News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - The Amarillo Bulls had a difficult time holding onto a 2-0 lead in recent games. That all changed on Saturday night at NYTEX Sports Center in North Richland Hills.

Alex Peterson scored late in the second period as the Bulls skated past the Lone Star Brahmas 4-1 and remain alone in first place in the North American Hockey League's South Division.

Logan Jenuwine scored twice and Brenden Datema added the other goal. Jason Grande was solid in net making some big saves to preserve the victory.

It was a better start to the game for the Amarillo Bulls and that led to the first goal of the game as Logan Jenuwine spotted Brenden Datema alone in the slot area and he was able to hammer the puck past Seth Eisile for his 10th of the season. The Bulls outshot the Brahmas 8-3 in the opening 20 minutes.

Special teams went to work early in the second period and it propelled the Bulls to their second goal off the stick of Jenuwine who put one through the legs of the goaltender. The Bulls penalty killing was called upon to keep the team in front during a big stretch of the middle stanza and they didn't disappoint. Rocky Russo's bunch killed off a five minute major as well as two other key penalties. That fired up the visitors and a good cycle by the newly created line of Brett Abdelnour, Alex Peterson and David Ojamae led to the Bulls third goal. Peterson and Ojamae worked the puck to Peterson for the one timer and it was 3-0.

Early in the third period, the Bulls struck again this time Jenuwine with a hard shot past the glove side of the goaltender. Jason Brancheau and Cooper Fensterstock added assists on the play. The Brahmas rounded out the scoring in the final to spoil the shutout bid of Grande.

The Lone Star Brahmas outshot the Amarillo Bulls 29-20. The teams combined for nine power plays with the Bulls scoring the lone marker.
