Amarillo Bulls News Release

AMARILLO, TX - Size and strength.

That's something new Amarillo Bulls Head Coach, Jon Rogger, was looking to add to this year's team and the latest player signed to tender will help improve that area.

The Bulls announced today (Friday) that they have tendered forward Jason Kowalczyk (pronounced Ko-wall-Chick). The 6-0, 170 pound native of Bridgeview Illinois, notched 13 goals and 19 assists for 32 points in 36 games with the Chicago Fury of the Tier I Elite League. Rogger said he's thrilled that Kowalczyk has agreed to tender with the Bulls.

"We drafted him just over a year ago when I was in Des Moines," Rogger said. "We put him on our affiliate list and hoped he would make the team. With the coaching change in Des Moines you don't know what is going to happen. He is a kid that can play and we hope we can get him to come to Amarillo."

Rogger said that the young forward has all the attributes they are looking for.

"We wanted to get a little more size up front this season and I think he will go a long way to helping us with that," he explaned. "Jason can play physical, and has good hands. I think he can put up points without question in the North American Hockey League."

Jason Kowalczyk said he has heard nothing but great things about Amarillo and its success over the past four years, including moving 48 players and counting on to the NCAA.

"The Bulls have had a great track record of moving players on to the next level and being one of the top teams in the South Division," he said. "I think the Bulls can help improve and develop my game and get me ready for the next level."

That opportunity to move on for Kowalczyk is that ultimate dream of the NCAA.

"I have always wanted to play Division I hockey since I was young, and the opportunity to play in front of a big crowd at a top school," he said.

In 115 career games with the Fury, Kowalczyk has proven that he is capable of scoring with 34 goals and 53 assists for 87 points and 72 penalty minutes.

"I'm definitely very excited at this opportunity and looking forward to the experience," he said. "I know coach Rogger very well because he was at Des Moines last year. He told me that he was going to Amarillo so I knew it was going to be a great place to come and play."

Jason Kowalczyk is the eighth player tendered by the Amarillo Bulls for the 2014-15 season joining forwards Elijiah Barriga, JJ Huerena, Jesse MacIntyre, Ryan Walker and Connor Wood, as well as defenseman Sean Giles, and goaltenders Jacob Weatherley and Alec Derks.

The fifth anniversary season of the Amarillo Bulls is less than four months away and now is a terrific opportunity to purchase full or partial season tickets as well as 10 game flex packs. There are many amazing benefits for each of these tickets plans. For further information on pricing, seat locations and benefits, please call the Bulls Office at 806-242-1122.
