Amarillo Bulls News Release
Amarillo, TX - The Amarillo Bulls announced the newest member of the 2019-2020 roster will be 10-year old Micah Gallegos, a Make-A-Wish child, will sign a one-day player contract and join the organization for its game, Saturday, February 29, against the Topeka Pilots.
Micah, who was formerly diagnosed with Philadelphia Chromosome positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia and now finished with his final treatments for the disease, is an Amarillo native and celebrates all things sports related. As a way of celebrating Micah's heroic battle against the disease, the Bulls will honor him as the 24th member of their squad.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, Micah will be introduced to his new teammates, tour the locker room, receive his official jersey, and enjoy a team breakfast before joining the Bulls on the ice for morning skate.
No North American Hockey League skater's career would be complete without a contract, which Micah will sign at an 11:00 am press conference, officially marking his addition to the Bulls roster. After signing his contract, Micah will enjoy the game day media scramble and take questions from reporters.
After the press conference has concluded, Micah will be treated to a team meal, joined by the Bulls coaching staff, front office staff, and players, ahead of the matchup with Topeka later that night.
As game time approaches, Micah will join his teammates in preparing for the game, going through the routines and learning the ropes of being an Amarillo Bull.
Micah will join the team on the ice for introductions, where he will be named the "7th Player" and join the team on the bench for the all-important, playoff-like matchup with the Pilots at 7:05 pm.
