December 2, 2018 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Amarillo Bulls News Release
SHREVEPORT, LA - The Amarillo Bulls were one of seven teams in the North American Hockey League that hadn't scored a shorthanded goal this season.
That all changed on Saturday night and spurred a third period comeback that powered the Bulls to a 4-3 victory over the Shreveport Mudbugs and extend their unbeaten string to 11 games. Rocky Russo's charges lead the South Division by seven points over the second place Topeka Pilots.
Logan Jenuwine scored on a great shot, shorthanded and then he followed that up with the game winner gobbling up the loose puck in the slot area and then hammering it past the goaltender. That play was set up by a big hip check by Ryan Lautenbach. Brett Abdelnour and Alex Peterson netted the other goals for the Bulls. Gabriel Seger had two assists and Justin Evenson notched the win in goal.
The Bulls raced out to a 2-0 lead through the first 23:03 of the game on power play goals from Alex Peterson and Brett Abdelnour. Brenden Datema, Logan Jenuwine, Jason Brancheau and Gabriel Seger picked up assists. The Mudbugs worked their way back into the game scoring two goals in a six second span in the third period. Amarillo then found another gear and triggered the equalizer and go ahead goal both of the stick of Jenuwine. Nick Anderson and Gabriel Seger had assists on the goals. Down the stretch, the Mudbugs were looking to tie the game but the Bulls defense held form and kept the homeside from getting even.
Hockey returns to the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center on Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday December 8 when the Bulls host the Lone Star Brahmas at 7 pm. Friday is the arrival of the Grinch and Saturday it's the Toys For Tots Teddy Bear Toss.
