Amarillo Bulls News Release

Blaine, MN - After starting the 2019 NAHL Showcase with a pair of wins, the Amarillo Bulls closed out the week with a 4-2 victory over the USA Hockey National Team Development Program Under-17 Team on Saturday Night.

The win, while not counting toward the team's overall record, is the Bulls' third consecutive victory after starting the season with an opening night loss.

In an evenly matched first period that saw a number of big hits and scoring chances for both teams, the only conversion on a scoring chance was Brendan Blair's first goal in a Bulls sweater to send Amarillo to the intermission with a 1-0 lead.

Into the second period, the Bulls would grow their lead to three goals as Nick Trela and Linus Udd-Hellgren each netted a goal before the Under-17's Jeremy Wilmer broke up the Bulls offense, bringing the score to 3-1.

The Bulls grew the lead back to three goals when Lauri Sertti ripped a shot from the blue line to make the score 4-1.

The Under-17 team would earn one more goal in the contest from Ty Murchinson before failing to convert with the goaltender pulled.

The 4-2 victory saw Bulls goalie Max Gutjahr save 18 of 20 shots in his second appearance for the team.

After the week-long road trip, the Bulls return to Amarillo on Friday, September 27 to take on the Shreveport Mudbugs in the Home Opener at 7:05 PM CST. The game will be broadcast on 107.1 Nash Icon and HockeyTV.
